XXL volumes, variable geometry pieces, ubiquitous two-tone materials... For his fourth jewellery collection, Marc Deloche transforms jewellery into stylistic devices. Welcome to the realm of gold metaphors.

The fourth jewelry collection

‘It all started with an oblong shape that I wanted to stretch as much as possible,’ explains Marc Deloche. ‘The result was a little strange, a little irregular, but I liked it. I wanted to make it the strong link in this collection with more unstructured and sometimes even disproportionate designs. The important thing was also to surprise by creating transformable jewellery that offers women different ways of wearing it.’
Comprising twenty-two designs, collection number 4 is divided into four sections: Hyperboles, Anacoluthe, Litote and Anaphore.

HYPERBOLES

Here is a figure of exaggeration. A simple yellow gold wire, entirely handcrafted, stretched to the point of losing its shape, with a pinch as a clasp, these Hyperboles earrings make the face shine with their oversized sparkle. Combined with irregular circles and squares, this same link lends itself to a long necklace in three golds with multiple effects: it can be worn as a single row, a double row, support a giant 36.5-carat rutile quartz pendant, or be transformed into jingling bracelets. Stacked on the finger, these gold rings form a variable-geometry ring.

ANACOLUTHE

In an anarcholuth, there is a break in the syntactic structure of a sentence. Marc Deloche's Anacoluthe jewellery consists of a lasso over a metre long set with a myriad of quarter moons in yellow and white gold which suddenly turn around, invert themselves, and change the shape and path of the necklace. The unexpected also emerges in this choker. In the blink of an eye, it becomes a unique earring, both present and flexible. It is accompanied by a pair of Anacoluthe cuffs where the quarter-moon motifs take on yet another design.

LITOTE

It is an art to know how to express the most by saying the least. Gold and a few grams of hard stones are all it takes to create these two Litote rings. The first features a convex malachite ball on an architectural structure, while the second plays on the opposite with a flat surface of coral and turquoise. As for the Litote necklace, at first glance no one would guess that it can be transformed into an ultra-geometric earring motif.

ANAPHORA

What better than an anaphora to hammer home an idea? The jeweller repeats the same spiral of brushed and polished gold on pairs of giant hoop earrings that hold a turquoise pistil in their calyx. Following a similar principle, the yellow metal winds around the arm like a precious spring, its ends adorned with lapis lazuli beads. As for the Anaphore necklace, it encircles the neck with a triple row of gold, simply embellished with turquoise balls. As a single earring, Anaphore takes on both colours of gold, yellow and white, worked into an infinity of circles. In its rigid version, this stylistic device gives rise to an explosion of concentric patterns: alternating yellow and white gold on a spectacular cuff and ring.
